I just bought "Abracadabra" by the Steve Miller Band on iTunes.

I feel so ashamed.

I like his pre big commercial success stuff better.A Journey To Eden,Number 5,and the much maligned Rock Love, which I actually think is a pretty good album. You can get some of those for free, just look on some musical blog sites.I got Journey To Eden and Rock Love on Rapidshare.

Being better than "Abracadabra" is like being better than Windows 1.1, it's pretty easy.

The first time I heard that song, I asked someone "Who is that?" When they told me Steve Miller Band, I just about fainted.

The video is hokey, but the song isn't bad. Steve Miller, like Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship/Starship, just wanted to keep up with current trends. At least Steve Miller didn't claim to build a city on Rock and Roll.

That has to be the most un-rock and roll song in the world ever! After "White Rabbit", they fell down the hole into a painful corporate 'wonderland' - bad hair, bad outfits and terrible songs. I'd add Fleetwood Mac as another band that spiralled downhill into the awful eighties.

Don't forget Styx. Remember "Kilroy Was Here"? Dennis De Young was so hungry for Broadway that he came out with this crap.

Then there was Don Henley... from the Eagles to his solo career that I could have done without just fine.

It is SUCH A SHAME that the the SMB is remembered for the same 4 or 5 songs that are played on Classic Rock stations. He had some really wonderful albums that never receive airplay. Just hearing the first few notes on a Steve Miller Band Song gets the radio turned off. No if and or buts. Most Classic Rock songs I can do without. As Ashamed as I am to admit it I prefer Kayne West to The Eagles these days. About the only Band from my Youth I still listen to is Pink Floyd.
Having a 14 yr old girl has changed my listening habits tremendously. 10 years ago I hated RAP but now, not so much. Some of it is quite brilliant.

Anyone Know what R A P stands for? It surprised me.

Well, to be honest, I switched to country many years ago. I still listen to classic rock, and what my boy refers to as "butt rock" (or as they are more commonly known as Hair Bands from the 70s and 80s like Motley Crue and Van Halen) but I always gravitate toward country.

Please notice I refrained from making up something insulting about rap. It's pretty amazing when I show restraint... but I think this time its the pain meds. LOL

For me I like country if its the old kind, Johnny Cash, Lynn Anderson, Faron Young, Hank Snow, Charlie Rich, Etc. ( You Get the idea. ) Or Outlaw Country. Willie Waylon and the boys.

Achhy Breaky Heart and Boot Scootin Boggie stopped my listening to country stations long ago. ( the exception being the Dixie Chicks )

I like old and new country... but I like most old music. I used to have a CD of very old popular music from the 1920s and 30s. Anything to take me back to different times that I haven't had the pleasure of living in.
